The New American Home® 2022 is preparing to take center stage as a main attraction during the next NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS). Construction is well underway of the 2022 show home, which aims to raise the bar for high performance, modern amenities and contemporary flair.
“We’re very excited about our approach to the 2022 New American Home and to showcase this upscale-coastal concept designed by BSB,” said Serena Hahn, CEO of Envy Homes, builder of the 2022 project. “Our philosophy is to bring modern, livable features to all of our homes, built thoughtfully to keep it approachable to builders, even with a project like [The New American Home].”
Once completed, the three-story property will boast 4,646 square feet of living space, with three bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. Features will also include a rooftop terrace, an exercise room and numerous indoor-outdoor living amenities as well as a pool courtyard.
Industry professionals seeking inspiration and new ideas will find that many of the unique aspects of the 2022 home can be easily replicated within nearly any new-home project. Among those prime examples are the elements found throughout the primary suite, according to Hahn, who describes the space as a “private sanctuary for the home owner” who will enjoy its “numerous spa-like features.”
Yet despite the project’s high notability as a flagship exhibit for the entire housing industry, the build team has experienced many of the same supply and permitting challenges as other builders all across the country. A willingness to adapt and develop new solutions have been the keys to overcoming a variety of changes and delays.
“This has been an interesting supply-chain year for all of us,” Hahn said. “It has challenged us to work more closely with our manufacturing partners to find creative ways to source different products and materials to stay on track while being cognizant of budget variations.”
Like many of its predecessors in The New American Home program, the 2022 home is expected to achieve net-zero status and Emerald-level certification from the National Green Building Standard. It will also earn certification from ENERGY STAR, Indoor airPLUS, and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Home Program.
The project is scheduled for completion in late October 2021 and will be officially unveiled to the public at IBS 2022, Feb. 8-10, in Orlando. For more, visit buildersshow.com.
